Quality customer care can raise goodwill, says fashionprenuer

Akerele Ronke Adu is the founder of McAdur Imaginations, a Lagos based one-stop fashion café that combines a Fashion Academy, with Bespoke Tailoring, Ready-to-Wear, Facial Clinic and Make-up Studio.

The Graduate of Agricultural Economics and Extension, Ladoke Akintola of Technology, who had her secondary education In Gwandu, Kebbi State told Daily Trust YOUTHVILLE that she took fashion designing serious 11 years ago while in first year at the university due to incessant industrial strikes.

“I settled in the industry because we’ve not tapped the economic benefit of the fashion industry and we are amidst the world highest consumers of fashion products meaning we consume foreign fashion product more.

“We are getting better now because Nigerians are now patronizing local content but we need 100% of their patronage,” she said.

She added that her “Competitive price, creativity and standard products, timely delivery” had given her an edge which does not just lead to return clients but also referrals. “We offer loyal customer care services.”

Ronke who works with 10 other persons said “We have partnership with other company to execute some of our services, for instance, our delivery is handled by a logistics company.”

She added that she had lost count of the number of students who passed through her FESTAC based academy. “McAdur Imaginations have trained numerous persons. We draft our students/trainees to work part time which will also boost their capability,” she explained.

Ronke who just returned from South Africa for a fashion collaboration said over the years, she has been able to form synergy across borders to remain up-to-date and tap creativity from other cultures.

She however noted that the rush by Nigerians for foreign designers and high cost of running business in Nigeria has been a challenge.

On how she raised her start-up fund, Ronke said she got no-interest-loans from family, friends, reinvested profit and got Partnership collaborations.
