Speaking at the 2014 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the institute in Abuja recently, Aliyu noted that the challenges facing the institute in terms of numbers and capacity are surmountable through the collective efforts of members.
“We have to wake up to the external threats that are coming, wake up to the realities on ground whether we like it or not  in terms of capacity and numbers and be able to survive in this century and move on to the future,” he said.
The NIQS president said that the zoning of the institute seminars held in Osun,  Gombe and Akwa Ibom states allowed the institute to identify challenges facing the institute at state level, adding that the next one coming up in Kano will focus on how NIQS members can better utilize the business angle of the profession.
“In Kano we intend to discuss entrepreneurship. We have run our practices as professionals. We will use our research department to see how we can survive as businesses. We’ll also discuss our challenges, problems and how to move the institute forward.”
Aliyu disclosed that through concerted efforts of the institute`s National Executive Council about 152 experienced professionals who are serving the nation at different levels have been inducted as members and this will further  strengthen the Institute and ensure that there are members that can influence policies favourable to the institute.
“I urged members to move out of their comfort zones and think out of the box to be able to remain relevant and sustain the future of the profession,” he said.
The AGM witnessed the induction of 263 additional new members into the institute.
