R. Kelly remixes Davido’s ‘IF’

Award-winning artiste, R Kelly has endorsed 2017 pop song ‘IF,’ by Nigeria’s hip-hop artiste, Davido.

Last week, R Kelly released a remix version of the four-minute long single which has enjoyed massive airplay across the continent and has had over 14 million views on Youtube.

The Grammy Award winner posted the remix on his Facebook and Twitter accounts with a message: “New Music Alert: I had to jump on the remix to Nigerian artiste @iam_Davido song, ‘IF,’ debuting at number 2 on the charts!”

Davido also took to Instagram to announce it. He said, “Crazy the legend R. Kelly remixed ‘IF’ Whaaaaaaat! I’m honored! #backtobasics stay true to your culture! [sic] They will come.”

It is unclear when a full track will be released in that line. But the Nigerian artist Davido whose songs including Gobe and Skelewu have gained popularity across Africa, while celebrating the endorsement put it down to staying true to his culture.

The song mostly rendered in Pidgin English, talks about how a man seeks to reassure his lover – Brigette – of his unending love promising her 30 billion in her account plus designer outfits.
