IBADAN – In an effort to promote awareness and combat the prevalence of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer, the renowned Raha Foundation recently organized a comprehensive awareness program and symposium at the University of Ibadan. The event, which took place yesterday, aimed to educate students about the importance of HPV vaccination and raise awareness about the potential risks associated with the virus.

The Raha Foundation, well-known for its relentless efforts in spreading awareness about critical health issues, conducted an interactive symposium at the university’s students male and female hostels. The event witnessed a remarkable turnout, with hundreds of students attending to gain valuable insights into the prevention and early detection of cervical cancer.

During the symposium, prominent medical professionals and experts delivered informative presentations on HPV, cervical cancer, and the significance of HPV vaccination. The sessions covered crucial topics such as the causes of HPV infection, the link between HPV and cervical cancer, and the benefits of early detection and vaccination.

Dr. Fatima Hassan, a renowned gynecologist and a leading member of the Raha Foundation, emphasized the need for widespread awareness about HPV and cervical cancer. “Cervical cancer is a preventable disease, and HPV vaccination is a crucial step in its prevention,” said Dr. Hassan. “We aim to empower these young students with knowledge and provide them with the necessary tools to protect themselves and their future.”

Apart from the informative sessions, the Raha Foundation went a step further by providing students with HPV vaccination cards. Each student attending the event received a personalized vaccination card, which would serve as a reminder for their future HPV vaccination appointments. This initiative aims to ensure that students stay on track with their immunization schedules and take proactive measures to protect themselves against HPV.

Ms. Aisha Ibrahim, a final-year student at the University of Ibadan, expressed her gratitude for the Raha Foundation’s efforts. “I am really thankful for this initiative. Many of us were not aware of the importance of HPV vaccination and the risks associated with HPV infection,” she said. “Now, equipped with this knowledge and the vaccination card, we can take proactive steps to safeguard our health.”
