A heavy rainstorm has wreaked havoc in Pandagi-Gbako community in Agyana-Pandagi Ward of Abaji Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
An elder of the community, Emmanuel Daniel, who spoke to Abuja Metro on Wednesday, said the disaster occurred on Tuesday night at about 10:23 p.m., when a strong windstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall hit the area.
He said the storm, which lasted over three hours, destroyed several houses, including an ECWA church, and damaged valuable property in the community.
According to him, many mud-built houses collapsed, while roofs were blown off by the intensity of the wind. He, however, noted that no lives were lost and no injuries recorded.
Daniel added that part of the church building collapsed, while its entire roof was blown off.
He appealed to the Abaji Area Council authorities and the FCT Emergency Management Agency to provide urgent assistance to affected residents.
