Ramadan: Borno, Kaduna lawmakers distribute food to civilian JTF, hunters, others

A member representing Kaga/Magumeri/Gubio Federal Constituency, Hon. Usman Zannah, has distributed food items to 5,000 families to cushion the effect of economic hardship in his constituency and Borno State.

Civilian JTF, hunters and vigilantes fighting against the Boko Haram insurgency, youth and women groups were the beneficiaries of the Ramadan palliatives.

Zannah said the gesture would encourage people in the constituency to value government presence and be law-abiding citizens.

“This is part of the federal government’s intervention to alleviate the suffering of our people and ensure food security across the country,” he said.

He thanked President Bola Tinubu and Borno State governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for all their support in ensuring that the troubled areas of his constituency were recovered and the ongoing developments.

Alhaji Goni Abdullah, Chairman of Kaga Local Government Area, commended the lawmaker for supporting the civilian JTF consistently.

“They were the ones who sacrificed their lives to fight and reclaim our communities from the Boko Haram insurgents. They deserve more support,” he said.

Similarly, Senator Sunday Katung (PDP-Kaduna South) has distributed a trailer load of bags of rice to vulnerable Muslims in his senatorial zone.

The chairman of the distribution committee, Danlami Shuaibu Zango, who gave out the items on behalf of Katung in Zonkwa, said the relief items include 50 bags of 50kg, 200 bags of 25kg and 700 bags of 10 kg of rice.

Shu’aibu said the items would be distributed based on the population of the Muslim community in each of the eight local government areas that make up the zone.

According to him, the food relief was part of the senator’s efforts to assist the people in the sacred month and elevate the conditions of the less privileged.

He said proper arrangements had been put in place to ensure the palliatives got to those who needed them most.

“We have put every measure in place to guard against diversion of these items,” he said.
