The Chief Imam of Benin Central Mosque, Sheik Adulfatai Enabulele, has called on wealthy Muslims to assist the less privileged in observing the Ramadan fast.

He made the appeal in Benin while receiving members of the Edo State chapter of the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) in his office.

Sheik Enabulele described Ramadan as a period of spiritual closeness to Allah, seeking forgiveness, performing good deeds, and extending kindness to those in need.

“We must emulate Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by following his teachings and promoting good neighbourliness, especially during Ramadan,” he said.

He urged affluent Muslims to show generosity by sharing food with the underprivileged, ensuring that they, too, can partake in the fast.

Highlighting the significance of prayer and good deeds during the holy month, the chief imam emphasised that Ramadan is a time for self-reflection and community support.

He also advised members of the MMPN to uphold values that align with Islam and avoid actions that contradict its teachings.

In his response, the interim chairman of the association, Abdul-Kadir Abdullah, said, “We are here to build a strong working relationship between MMPN and the Chief Imam’s office, particularly in addressing misinformation about Islam and fostering positive narratives about the Muslim community.”
