A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Engineer Aliyu Mohammed Kombat, has donated rice to party officials in the 114 wards of Gombe State through his Velocity Humanitarian Foundation.

Secretary of the foundation, Dr Babangida Hammani, explained that the donation aimed to support party members during the holy month of Ramadan.

He emphasised the importance of entrepreneurs supporting the people saying the rice distribution, which also extended to mosques, saw 3,078 ward exco members receiving 10kg bags, 297 local government executives getting 25kg bags, and state exco members receiving 100 bags of 100kg.

The secretary noted that Kombat’s philanthropy extends beyond this donation, having also given N20,000 cash assistance to patients in hospitals across the state within the month.

Former Shongom local government chairman, Yohanna Nahari, praised Kombat’s gesture, stating, “Interventions by non-governmental organisations are complementary and essential in the society as government alone cannot render charity to everyone.”

According to him, entrepreneurs who are members of the party ought to support the efforts of the president in supporting the less privileged people especially in periods of needs.

He said doing that would project the image of the party before Nigerians.

“Party leaders giving back to the society will promote and sell the party to the electorates”, he opined.
