Ramadan Trust Initiative, a charity organization, has distributed relief materials worth thousands of naira to the poor and needy in Kano state.

The initiative which started its work four years ago, has been collecting charity from well-meaning individuals and organizations and distributing same to the poor and needy.

Presenting drugs and other consumables to the authorities of Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, the first Vice President of the organization, Alhaji Mukhtar Garba, said the visit was the second time
they were at the hospital.

“We have visited this hospital last year and donated to some selected patients who cannot afford to pay for their prescriptions. We hope the items we donated this year will also be shared judiciously,” he said.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Muhammad Mukhtar Hamza, commended the organization for the gesture and promised to hand over the items to the right beneficiaries.

The foundation also donated similar items to patients at Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital.

Receiving the items, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu, called on other Muslims organizations to emulate the initiative by organizing similar gesture to patients and needy in
the state.

“I thanked Ramadan Trust Initiative for the gesture. Any time you bring something to this hospital, no matter how little it is; it will benefit our patients. We have a lot of people that have problems buying drugs or paying for tests. So this kind of gesture will go a long way in ameliorating the condition of such patients,” he said.

At the Torrey Home in Tudun-Maliki quarters, the organization also presented items such as soaps, detergents, tissue and clothes worth over a hundred thousand naira to the people with special needs.

Receiving the donation, the Director of the Centre, Hajiya Aisha Sani Kurawa, said the items were much needed by the people living in the centre, appealing to organizations and individuals to augment government’s effort in rehabilitating children with special needs.

The initiative has also organized special Ramadan feeding for inmates at Goron-Dutse prison in addition to donation of relief materials to the prison.

According to the first vice president of the organization, the organization would provide food to hundreds of inmates on daily basis till the end of the month of Ramadan. 

Kano Chronicle gathered that the group has also donated relief materials worth thousands of naira to the residents of Gunduwawa and Tsamiya Babba in the state metropolis respectively.
