Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has warned fuel marketers and major dealers of foodstuff in the state to resist creating artificial inflation during the Ramadan period.

The chairman of the commission, Barr. Muhyi Magaji Rimingado, said the commission discovered that all the filling stations that shut their gates actually had no fuel to dispense.

He said he subsequently met with the depot manager of the NNPC, who assured that petroleum products would be dispensed to the marketers on Monday.

Rimingado said upon receiving the manifest of the distribution of the product, the commission will intensify its sting operations at different filling stations throughout the Ramadan period. He warned that they would crackdown on any station that received the product but refused to dispense accordingly.

He also said the commission has reached an agreement with foodstuff dealers in the state to ensure there is no artificial scarcity and inflation in the Ramadan period.

Kano/Jigawa Chronicle reports that most filling stations in the metropolitan area shut their gates Monday morning and there were long queues in the few stations selling petrol. The situation, however, improved on Tuesday.
