As Muslims faithful prepare for the month of Ramadan, the Gombe State Police Command has assured its readiness to protect lives and properties of residents of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Shina Tairu Olukolu, stated this in a statement issued to newsmen at the weekend in Gombe.

Olukolu said the command will continue to strive for better service delivery in the performance of its constitutional responsibilities of protection of live and properties.

 “We wish to assure all the peace loving good of Gombe state that the police will continue to maintain law and order through arrest, investigation and prosecution of offenders, especially during the period of Ramadan,” he said.

The CP appealed to politicians to play the game by the rules, as different groups are embarking on election of their leaders across the state.

“I wish to state categorically that after a careful review of the recent event, the entire police officers and men of Gombe state police command have affirmed and pledge our absolute loyalty and complete satisfaction in the leadership style, robust ways and manners the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, have been handling and piloting the affairs of the Nigeria Police Force since his appointment,” the CP said.

According to Olukolu, IGP Idris is operating within the acceptable United Nations standard and the operation strategy that has continue to, “tackle, expose security threats, violent crimes, armed robbery, kidnapping and cattle rustling anywhere in the country.”
