The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation has announced plans to launch its annual Ramadan Iftar Feeding Programme across seven states and the Federal Capital Territory, targeting vulnerable Muslims during the last ten days of Ramadan.
The programme is set to take place in Niger State, Sokoto State, Bauchi State, Borno State, Kaduna State, Plateau State, and the FCT, where daily Iftar meals will be provided in two mosques per state, with about 100 fasting Muslims expected to benefit in each mosque.
In Kwara State, where the Foundation traditionally records its widest outreach, the programme will take place in 52 mosques, providing meals to thousands of fasting Muslims.
Speaking on the initiative, Executive Director, Audu Idowu Musa, said the initiative was to provide relief to many households this period.
“At a time when economic pressures are keenly felt, even a simple meal can provide relief to vulnerable households.
“Ramadan reminds us of the importance of compassion and supporting one another. Small acts of kindness can make a significant difference”, he said.
He added that the feeding programme aligns with the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian support, education, healthcare, and community development, and praised volunteers and mosque committees for coordinating logistics ahead of the programme.
The Foundation also urged Nigerians to use the holy month to pray for peace, unity, and national progress.
