The Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Abuja has flagged off the distribution of date fruits to Muslims across Nigeria for this year’s Ramadan fast.

The Cultural Attache, Dr AbdulAzeez Abdullah Alhulayle said the gesture was part of the embassy’s charitable works to the Muslim faithful in the fasting season.

He listed categories of beneficiaries to include prison inmates, internally displaced persons, widows, orphans, Muslim preachers and Islamic organisations.

Dr Suleiman Alabi Yusuf, member of the local organising committee, said 10 tons of dates (more than 600 cartons) would be distributed nationwide to Muslims.

He said committees have already been put in place to deliver the dates to selected locations and mosques.

“The embassy under the leadership of the Charge de Affairs, Dr Yahyah Ali Almughrim felicitates with Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan.
