The Yobe State Government has distributed rice and other palliatives to 225 humanitarian support groups, orphanages, and vulnerable associations across the 17 local government areas of the state as part of its Ramadan support programme.

The Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA), Dr. Muhammad Goje, disclosed this while addressing journalists at the distribution centre located at the Governor’s Office in Damaturu.

He said beneficiaries include Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI), Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Women in Da’awa, Muslim Sisters Organizations, the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), and Yetim Orphanages Care Foundation.

Also listed were Tsangaya Teachers Associations, Widows Associations, the Persons with Special Needs Union, and other humanitarian bodies operating across the state.

Dr. Goje noted that the groups have long supported vulnerable residents, even before the government’s seasonal interventions.

He explained that the Ramadan assistance is designed to complement daily feeding centres earlier established by the administration, reinforcing efforts to ease hardship and enable families to observe the holy month with dignity.

He further disclosed that additional support targeting 6,000 individuals would be rolled out within the week, stressing that interventions are guided by identified needs and available resources.

He assured that more associations would benefit before the end of Ramadan.

Dr. Goje urged beneficiaries to use the spiritual significance of Ramadan to pray for sustained peace, unity, and prosperity in Yobe State, as well as for the continued success of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration.

Responding, Magajiya Muhammad Kallemi, representing the Muslim Sisters Organizations, commended the government and YOSEMA, describing the gesture as timely and supportive of ongoing humanitarian efforts in the state.
