Mai Mala Buni, Yobe State Governor

The Yobe State Government has pardoned 33 inmates from correction centres in the state.

The inmates were pardoned by Governor Mai Mala Buni based on the advice of the state’s Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy led by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Saleh Samanja.

A S Mamudo, spokesman of the Ministry of Justice, who disclosed this in a statement, said the council had before the release of the inmates visited Potiskum, Nguru and Gashu’a correction centres.

He added that after careful deliberations, the council came up with a 33-man list of inmates for consideration by the governor.
