The Reading Association of Nigeria (RAN) commemorated the International Women’s Day on the 8th of March by visiting Christabel Private School, Abuja for a special reading session.

With the theme: #PressForProgress, the students of the school performed poems and songs for the RAN delegation reflecting on the achievement and power of women.

The National President of the Reading Association of Nigeria, RAN Mrs. Irene Chinwe Mbanefo also went ahead to read a speech by the Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, which highlighted the need for new and higher level literacy skills in all spheres of life especially in promoting girl-child education.

The reading session ended with the principal of the school, Mr. Abayomi delivering a vote of thanks in which he expressed gratitude to the managing director of the school, the staff, students and attending members of RAN. He also noted the importance of recognition of women as major key players in society.
