Kano Pillars were unable to pick the maximum points as they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Sani Abacha Stadium by Enugu Rangers in the matchday 25 fixtures of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Sani Mubarak had put the hosts ahead in the 30th minute but Chinaemerem Ugwueze equalised in the 52nd minute as the visitors’ unbeaten streak continued.
Meanwhile, Heartland FC of Owerri finally ended an eight-game winless run after defeating visiting Abia Warriors 2-0.
Prior to this win, their last win was on December 28, 2023, when they defeated Remo Stars 3-1. Interestingly, this is coach Christian Obi’s first win as Heartland coach. He had managed 17 games before yesterday’s win.

Elsewhere, Remo Stars made history as they defeated the defending champions, Enyimba home and away for the first time with both legs finishing 1-0.
Also, Shooting Stars picked up an important win on the road as Doma United lose consecutive games. The ‘Oluyole Boys’ won 1-0 just as Bendel Insurance stuttered in Uyo as they lost 3-1.
Plateau United had the biggest win of the week as they hammered Gombe United 4-0 while Kwara United defeated Bayelsa United by 1-0.
It was a tough battle between two former champions, with Lobi Stars showing superiority over Rivers United with a hard-fought 3-2 win to remain top of the table
Sunshine Stars ensured Katsina United went home empty after defeating the visitors 1-0 just as Niger Tornadoes stopped a resurgent Sporting Lagos in its tracks with another 1-0 win.
