The Police in Sokoto have arrested one Shehu Amadu, described as ‘habitual rapist’, over rape of a 6-year-old girl, while two others Muzambilu Muhammad and Shafiu Almustapha were nabbed for homosexuality.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Kaoje, disclosed this on Wednesday in Sokoto while parading suspects arrested by the command for various offences.

Aside the suspected rapist and homosexuals arrested, CP Kaoje also identified one Shamsudeen Muhammad of Kware Local Government and one Bello Yusuf of Wurno both of whom were reportedly found with substances suspected to be Indian hemp and psychoactive drugs.

CP Kaoje said: “A case of rape was reported at Gidan Madi Division that one Shehu Amadu aged 21 of Araba Birni village, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto forcefully had carnal knowledge of a girl (name withheld), aged 6 in the farm after chasing away her 8-year-old brother.”

CP Kaoje said the case was under investigation and the suspect would soon be arraigned in court.

He also revealed that the two suspects arrested for homosexuality were nabbed at Digar Agere area of Sokoto by the police following information that the said suspects were indulging themselves in unlawful sexual intercourse against the order of nature.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and would soon be arraigned in court,” he stated.

Another suspect, Nafiu Abubakar of Kwannawa area Sokoto, whom the CP said  specialized in stealing mobile phones, was also paraded.
