The causes of human trafficking in Nigeria are poverty, lack of education, immigration policy, environmental conditions, fractured families and lack of good job opportunities. There is no doubt that these conditions create a toxic cocktail of vulnerability.

They breed challenges such as human trafficking and force people into prostitution.

Complete disregard for human right is also a cause for human trafficking. Women and children are often viewed as objects that can be sold. Thus, they are sold into slavery and sexual exploitation.

Some people are also often dissatisfied with what they have even if they have perfectly decent lives. They still try to get more no matter what. Though Nigeria has one of the fastest growing economies, but many of its citizens have no jobs. Many cannot get a proper job. Therefore, they try to seek to make it by all means which makes them fall victims of fraudsters and even get lured into something terrible under the false pretence of employment abroad.

To solve these problems, government has to pay more attention to; creating employment opportunities and skills acquisition. Government should try and create jobs for the masses as a large number of the people trafficked were lured into due to unemployment and poverty. Centres should be established for people to earn a living; the immigration officers should also monitor emigrants in order to protect the people from crooks.

Also, the authorities should hold events to raise awareness. Raising awareness against human trafficking will help save our unemployed from falling victim.
