RATTAWU rejects sales of national assets

The leadership of the Radio Television Theatre and Art Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) has rejected the call for the sales of the National Arts Theatre, Tafawa Balewa Square, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and Voice of Nigeria (VON) among others.

A statement by the National President Comrade Kabir Garba Tsanni and General Secretary Comrade A.U. Akpausoh said such call were not only ill-motivated but also betrayed the mind-set of those behind them.

“It is important to state that the statutes establishing these organisations, especially NTA, FRCN and VON pay premium to National interest and security. Therefore selling them off to the private sector implies handing over national interest and security into the hands of business men and women whose primary concern is pecuniary gains,” the statement explained.
