The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, has distributed medical and food items to residents of Kabusa, a rural community in Abuja, FCT.
The Pastor-in-Charge of the church, Gbolade Okenla, said the goodies were part of their outreach programme for the Christmas season.
Pastor Okenla said the 6,000 beneficiaries of the outreach was in line with the directive of the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, to share the love of Christ this season in the rural areas of the FCT.
He called on the government and public-spirited individuals and organisations to invest in a stronger primary healthcare.
“The government should please partner with genuine bodies that have genuine concern for the people then we would be able to reach out,” he said.
Similarly, the church’s medical director, Theophilus Ado, said making primary healthcare, secondary healthcare through general hospitals and tertiary healthcare, which is at teaching hospitals, accessible, the country would save funds due to healthy citizenry.
“If we don’t do that, we go from prevention to caring – and caring is more expensive,” he said.
