Retraction and Apology

Our attention has been drawn to a story published on our online platform on August 6, 2025, titled “Analyst blames Kanu’s continued detention on past legal team’s legal blunders.”

The story made references to named persons and their professional work.

After a thorough investigation, we realised that the story did not pass through the rigorous editorial protocols for which our flagship newspaper, Daily Trust is known, including the fact that the individuals mentioned in that story were not contacted for their response before publication

We have since taken the story off our online platform, where it was published. Besides, we have taken necessary disciplinary action against the writer of the story.

We regret the publication of this story on our platform and hereby retract it in its entirety. We sincerely apologise to all those concerned, particularly Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, and his chambers as well as Barr Ifeanyi Ejiofor for any distress or inconvenience the story may have caused.
