Our attention has been drawn to an ignominious write up by one Dogo S Nok published in Daily Trust of Tuesday 28th March, page 44.

In the said write up, Nok posited that the GMD of the NNPC is a lucrative position in the country. We agreed with this. But he contradicted himself earlier on. Hear him “ …southern Kaduna struggle to recover from the multibillion dollar (sic) shock and embarrassment that Andrew Yakubu assaulted them with…” One would have thought Nok knew very well how ‘lucrative’ the position of the GMD is ab initio, but in his poor comprehension of the perks of the office of the GMD, he allowed his sentiment of envy and his bent on character assassination to becloud his sense of reasoning.

While Mr Dogo S Nok displayed his economic charlatanry over our current recession and lamented the poverty ravaging the populace, we noticed that he did not claim it was caused by Andrew Yakubu.

Again, Nok, libellously claimed that AY ‘dollar-sponsored’ some write ups (wherever it was published, we don’t know) to claim regional oppression even while in detention. We are yet to read any of such articles. But, the desperate manner and painstaking effort that Nok took to put down AY; his lack of acknowledgment for the meritorious 35 years’ service that AY served his country at the NNPC; his lack humanity for a man put in detention for so long against the-rule-of-law; Nok’s disrespect for a respected elder, among other innuendoes, reveals a person that is well sponsored to carry out a hatchet job.

Another laughable and myopic claim by Mr Nok is that “…people of SouthernKaduna suffers the insult of becoming his mercenaries in addition to the injury of being short-changed or rather duped (sic) by their own son.” This is rather puzzling in comical way. And it again tells of the far-fetched antics the man is deploying to invoke a sense of rage among Southern Kaduna people and to justify the screaming villainy that a Southern Kaduna elder of undisputable integrity has been suffering in the gulags of the EFCC. The money found on AY’s property has not been declared by law as proceeds of theft. Again, the money was never any sum appropriated by law for use in Southern Kaduna. So in what way was Southern Kaduna short-changed?

Again Nok’s insinuation on “abuse of office” is not only vile and unacceptable, it is in furtherance of the agenda of the enemies of Southern Kaduna and indeed all persons of conscience, to keep AY permanently bad in the eyes of the public, so that no one cares about his plight. But, as he can see, there a growing public consternation over his illegal detention without trial and it is growing every day.

He refused to inform the reading public which he seek to incite, that AY was overseas on medical trip when the EFCC called to informed him that his property had been raided and some amounts of money were found. That he promptly owned up to it and said he was coming back to defend how he raised the money. That had if the man had something to hide, he would have quietly stayed back in exile. But reported to the EFCC by himself. The amount has been temporary forfeited to government coffers. Bails conditions were set for him, which he has met. But, he has not been released, nor charged to court.

Apart from armed robbery, treason or murder, all other suspect can be freed on bail.

But, because Andy Yakubu is from Southern Kaduna, and has served under the PDP and is also feared as future political threat, there is powerful plot to destroy him. That is the simple matter. You cannot in this day and age, sentence people to the public courts via the media even before they have their day in court in your desperation to criminalise citizens. Remember every dog has his day!
