The Daily Trust of Monday, April 18, 2016 carried the above story on page 15 titled, “Badaru stops Sheriff from entering Jigawa”. To be candid, there was a productive and passionate plan by Jigawa state PDP chapter to receive its national chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, his entourage and many PDP governors in Dutse, Jigawa state capital on April 18 but there was obstruction along the way which led to the stoppage of the event.
This is totally uncalled for. I remember sometime in December 2015, the Jigawa APC held a big rally in Dutse to receive PDP decampees. At the event about 10 APC serving governors, Senators, Ministers, SGF and the Speaker of the House of Representatives who represented the vice president were all in attendance. The then state government led by Alhaji Sule Lamido did not collaborate with the police to stop that rally for security reason. Its now, when the opposition party, PDP wants hold theirs then there are excuses to stop them for security reason. What an irony? Even in Maiduguri, events, ceremonies, political and social gatherings take place.
To this respect, I advise Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Badaru Talamiz to emulate the attributes of his predecessor, Sule Lamido because the present style or approach of his government hinges on deprivation, intimidation and vendetta.
