First, seeking a second tenure is a constitutional right, so we should not question Jonathan for expressing interest. After all seeking a second term seeker is more honourable than trying to wangle a third term.
Second, President Jonathan’s refusal to respect the promise he made not to go for second term is not surprising, because if political agreement is meant to be respected, Obasanjo wouldn’t have fought tooth and nail for Jonathan’s success in 2011 because presidential zoning was to continue with the north after death of President Yar’adua.  
Chief Obasanjo’s letter would have been complete in moral value if he had mentioned which part of the country the next president should come since Jonathan is not supposed to re-contest  Whatever the reason for not doing so reduced the letter’s import. Was he afraid of openly mentioning the North, East or South?
On the governors that defected to APC, I am scandalized that Chief Obasanjo was unable to read the writing on the wall. Two reasons have been advanced for their action, one, none of them is seeking re-election as they are in their second tenure and, two they have lost political will, influence and power in PDP.  So their defection to me is as selfish as it is baseless, after all, all of them (except perhaps Kwankwaso) helped Jonathan in the 2011 election. All said, Jonathan’s antecedent in the last 2 ½ years is an indication that he is not capable of ruling the most populous black nation. Jonathan himself could be regarded as the arrowhead and mastermind of all the crises mentioned in Obasanjo’s letter.
But we are no longer ready to endure the insults, deceits and manipulations of agents of this administration. Let us rise up and be counted in our efforts not only to transform Nigeria by making our voices heard now and our votes counted in 2015.
