It’s unacceptable for officers of the Nigerian Customs Service to carryout duties in markets, roads and highways. The duty of the agency is regulate incoming and outgoing goods.

The dutiable or banned items are to be checked at the entry and exit points of the country.

Unfortunately, in our beloved country, where people don’t know their right, the uniformed people always abuse their uniform to make illegal income.

Since we all know what is allowed and not allowed into the Nigerian territory, those charged with the reinforcements ought to do it at the right places.

Any product that enters the county, if it is not a banned substance is a legal product. The duty of verifying where or who bought what is left to the internal security agencies (police) and not the border guards. For all illegal products (drugs and food) we have the ÑDLEA and NAFDAC as well as the police.

Let our dear customs officers concentrate on their primary points of call – entry and exit points.
