The issues of power, security where trillions of naira was spent with nothing to show for it, angered many Nigerians. The oil sector, where so many questions of misappropriation of funds were raised, cannot simply be allowed to pass without proper investigation. The cost of running the government too needs to be investigated.
For Jonathan to say Buhari should investigate previous governments before his is investigated is uncalled for. Buhari is not taking over from previous regimes, but taking over from Jonathan’s regime. So the question of investigating other regimes does not arise. Jonathan could have investigated other regimes if he suspected them to be at fault. I’m sure he saw evidence of corruption in the previous administration, but failed to take action; he cannot turn round and blame others for his inaction. We urge Buhari to investigate anything that touches the misuse of public funds and set in motion measures to recover them.
