Jibrin Ibrahim’s Friday  column of January 20, 2017, carried the above headline but given the avalanche of background data and available information on this ill-motivated and perniciously instigated crisis,  couldn’t the title have been more audacious and deliberately assertive, backed with an appropriate question, to suggestively probe our conscience, by pointedly asking the masterminds and sponsors of this cyclic carnage, “when will they (masterminds and sponsors) put an end to the Southern  Kaduna violence?”          

 

 

The time has come, for all patriotic Nigerians to unite to confront  our country’s conscious cover-up mystery of insincerity and apathetic syndrome – which involves turning a blind eye when confronted with well-established facts on individuals that organize and mastermind most of the orchestrated heinous crimes in our society. However, these characters are deceptively shielded and protected, because insincerity has become our sweetest portion to savour, instead of calling a spade a spade and dispensing appropriate punishments to all culpable indictees.      

 

 

I wish to submit, here, that, Jibrin Ibrahim has given us, his readers, a very rich and comprehensive historical overview of the Southern Kaduna crisis, which more or less, has now assumed a new life of its own, with a viral regularity of violence to describe its impact as another war.     

 

 

My frustration is not therefore meant to disown the legitimacy of Jibrin Ibrahim’s original title, which I remoulded with a question mark but to highlight the facts that in spite of the sufficient dossiers at the disposal of past governments to nail those responsible for these crisis, we have resorted to the usual traditional ugly games of pretenses, albeit, like the proverbial ostrich, burying its head in the sand.     

 

 

This time around, I am totally convinced that the cover-up is over and those invisible forces and merchants of death, stealthily stalking the neighborhood like nocturnal evil spirits will not be allowed to vanish from justice, spared or allowed to enjoy their unmerited immunity because, the game is now over, with a new game changer, in the person of Nasir El-Rufa’i. For the avoidance of doubt, take it or leave it, you don’t have to like  Nasir El-Rufa’i to know and appreciate the fact that his passion and obsession for Kaduna was committed to a single mindset of unifying the state into a united community of mutually reciprocal ,as well as egalitarian humanitarian values. It is a pity that evil men and women with warped perception about religion are undermining this project instead of helping to promote its implementation!        

 

All said and done, enough is enough and there should be no hiding place for criminals to escape the big arms of the law; neither the church nor the mosque should be a barrier to apprehend those responsible for these endless carnage and human waste!
