Re: FG’s agencies disown capital projects in budget

We appreciate the supportive reportage of the activities of the Directorate by your much revered paper but are however pressed into responding to the said report as a result of an inaccuracy in the report which did not correlate with the facts.
The Acting Director General, Mr Shuaibu Suleiman, indeed appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa and NEPAD to defend the Directorate’s budget for the year 2014. He however mentioned that the total capital budget proposal of the Directorate was N77.9 million and not N77.9 billion as wrongly quoted in the report. The Acting Director General did also point out that certain items found in the budget proposal were not as imputed in the initial budget submitted by the Directorate.
We therefore wish to request a correction of this fact in the interest of the Directorate and the general public as well as the integrity of your respected paper.

Mary Eddy-Orok, for Acting Director General, Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa
