Please permit me a space to air my view on the above issue which was by the Jonde Jam Fulani Youth Association as published on  page 12 of  March 6, 2016 of Daily Trust on Sunday. The statement is alarming and worrisome particularly to those whose main business is cattle rearing. If as the saying goes,  “an idle mind is a devil’s workshop,” what else can they do if not cattle rearing which is the source of their livelihood?.
However, effective nomadic education, provision of grazing reserves, as well as adequate grazing routes would solve most of the clashes between farmers and cattle rearers.
Farmers also needs to be encourage on harvesting their farm produce as soon as possible so as to  pave way for the cattle rearers, especially during the dry season when the cattle feeds become more scarce. But stopping cattle rearing has a lot of negative consequences, economically and even socio-politically.
