AMINA ISMAIL ([email protected]): I stand with Muhammadu Sanusi II! I can vouch for the emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi on humility, based on my little experience with him even though we have never met eye to eye. I firmly believe in the humility of Sarkin Kano and he speaks nothing but the truth about our pathetic situation in AREWA. Sanusi is so humble that he maintains a direct contact with his ‘Talakawa’; he communicates to people without pride or prejudice. There are very few people like him in Africa. Give some people a local government chairmanship in Nigeria and they become inaccessible even to some of their family members, but this is a man who ran through the ranks of success and is still accessible to even the commoners. The good thing about him is he does not only speak about these things but at the same time acts on them; he presents his cases and listens to whoever has any input on the matter at hand; he is not like most leaders that impose policies on their people; he works with people in proffering solutions to problems affecting them, and he does it wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, the society we live in is not appreciative of Sanusi’s sincerity of purpose. It’s a pity our leaders only agitate for growth but not development; they aspire to enrich themselves with our funds rather than empower us, and the saddest thing is they can go to any length with character assassination on whomsoever disregards or speaks against them and their atrocities. But like Sarkin Kano once said; “You can dismiss a man, but you can never dismiss the truth.” Sanusi is not perfect, but it is those imperfections that make us all human. I stand FIRM with Muhammadu Sanusi II. MAY ALLAH BE HIS GUIDE. Amin.
SHEHU WADA SAGAGI ([email protected]): JazakalLahu bi khair. Please do not allow our clueless leaders to silence Sarkin Kano. With him, the future will in sha Allah be bright. However, I urge the Emir to take your piece of advice – that that Amawali should be up, and permanently up. You and we and others can do the talking for him. And we are ready!

FATIMAH IBRAHIM ([email protected]): I am pleased that someone has the courage to at least write in support of Emir Sanusi. The Emir has got my back any time any day. Truth they said is bitter, but someone must be courageous enough to speak truth to power. No doubt the North is so backward in all spheres of life and the powers that be would prefer the situation to remain the same, so as to continue to subjugate the poor masses to live in perpetual handouts. Sad! How I pray that the northern masses will wake up from their induced slumber and realise that their so called leaders do not wish them well by any by any stretch of imagination. Or how else can you explain a situation where the kids of the northern elites go to the best schools in the world, get the best jobs, live in the best houses, ride the best cars and marry the best and richest amongst themselves, while the majority uneducated lots continue to wallow in abject poverty and crass ignorance? Please, wake up and stand with Emir Sanusi because, like my Brother Bala Muhammad, I also stand with Emir Muhammad Sanusi II. My only advise to the Emir is to live by example by walking his talk and commence the process (that is, if he hasn’t started already) of putting in place enduring structures to emancipate these masses through provision of quality education, enlightenment and empowerment programmes in order to emancipate the people both mentally, spiritually and financially. Then, and only then, will the Emir get the full support and understanding of the better educated northern masses and also etch his name in the annals of history as the best Northern Emir who challenged meaningless beliefs by breaking away from the norm. I stand by Emir Sanusi II.

MAHMUD GADAUJI ([email protected]): It’s quite good you stated your friendship with and closeness to the Emir. As you are a person I know very personally (personal enough to STAND BY YOU), I am sure you wouldn’t support (OR STAND BY) any bad egg. So your stand is understandable and supportable. However, it isn’t enough to make us stand with you for him because you didn’t try to clear him from any of his alleged sins. I guess you are trying to draw the Amawali up also. It’s certain that for a long while now storms come and go while the big fish eats the small fish; yet Sarki Sanusi keeps on paddling. This storm, though, is unlike other storms as he didn’t prepare for it – common failing of men not to take into account the tempest that comes during fair weather. But all in all, we understand and empathise with you. As someone whom we can stand by, we trust your judgement.
ABUBAKAR D. SANI, ESQ ([email protected]) (Introdution and Conclusion of a longer piece by the writer titled “Emir Sanusi: Is The Kano House of Assembly Probe Valid?”): I believe that the House lacks the requisite competence under the Constitution to undertake the inquiry. The powers of State Houses of Assembly to undertake investigations are not at large but are delimited by Section 128(2) of the Constitution which provides that it is to be exercised only for the purpose of enabling the Assembly to make laws or correct defects in existing laws and to expose corruption, inefficiency or waste in the execution or administration of laws or the disbursement or administration of funds appropriated by it. Accordingly, the said probe can only be valid to the extent to which its subject matter is within the aforesaid provisions of the Constitution. This necessarily calls for a review of those terms vis-à-vis the law…Few observers believe that the probe of the Emir by the Kano State House of Assembly is not politically-motivated. If the probe is a smokescreen to achieve the predetermined objective of deposing the Emir, the members of the House, as law makers, should be keen to ensure that their actions are above board. Unfortunately, the foregoing analysis shows that the probe is anything but bona fide. To put it bluntly, it is ultra vires the Assembly, invalid, null and void.
So, again, ‘MATA KU DAU TURAME’, and TABARE too!
