But unfortunately for Mr Jonathan, his recent comments or challenge is beyond AfDB Presidency.
Issues arising from that of regional security challenges, which are militating the socioeconomic and political landscapes in the region over a decade now, from the internal ones such as Boko Haram in Nigeria, Northern Mali rebels, Central Africa, Libyan uprising and the rest.
For many years, the ECOWAS Commission has held several meetings in the name of finding a workable solution to the region’s problems; but what appears on ground looks entirely unworkable as the existing crises are escalating on daily basis.
However this is no doubt showing a clear indication that Africa’s leaders are more into daydreaming than facing the reality. In what way do West Africa or ECOWAS members think?  Sleeping on their major problems and jumping to another matter. If the ECOWAS region is safe and remains potential for investors’ haven, there is no way however that chairmanship of the AfDB will not be theirs. As far as Africa is concerned, ECOWAS region is the most economically advanced in many ways but with the ongoing security challenges, things have begun to change direction, which if measures are not taken, the region will become much more poorer.
I therefore call on Mr Jonathan and his counterparts in the region to rise up from their slumber and face these dangerous elements that are taking advantage of corrupt leadership and putting the lives of Africans in the region in peril.
As long as these security challenges are escalating, no position is enough to recover the messed up lives and properties in the region. Finally I called again on the incoming president of Nigeria Gen. Buhari to use his past experience as a military officer to restore the integrity of ECOWAS with the support of of member states.
