Re: Judge hangs self amid corruption scandal

The above incident happened in Egypt as you reported on page 39 of the Daily Trust edition of January 3, 2017. One needs to ask if there is any lesson for Nigerian judicial officers in particular and public officers in general. Why is it that in Nigeria, whenever anyone, especially a highly placed public officer, is accused of corruption, he sponsors thugs to carry placards in his favour, or he accuses the government of witch-hunt? His kinsmen will also stand behind him, even if he is found guilty. It is indeed very unfortunate.

The truth is that as long as we continue to celebrate corrupt personalities in Nigeria, we will never go forward as a people and our country will never be respected in the comity of nations.
