RE: Kano Electricity Company operates at a loss

The recent assertion by the KEDCO managing director that his company has been operating at a loss, since taking over from the PHCN, has not taken anybody by surprise.
The managing director should have known better that KEDCO is never prepared for this serious business.
The thinking by the Discos before delving into this business was that they would make easy money. Unfortunately, it turned out to be otherwise.
With no serious upgrade of equipment, no balancing of supplies, disenchanted/unmotivated staff, the issue of making profit is a day dream.
If not for the unearned money that comes to your company through the compulsorily charged fixed amount-courtesy of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission benevolence,KEDCO would not have remained to lament by now.
There is no way your company will realise any profits without upgrading of facilities and installations.
Your transformers and line feeders blow most of the times, due to lack of maintenance and power balancing!
We have not seen power for over six days but now, unfortunately KEDCO is not losing anything because fixed dash is there for them.
We are fervently praying so that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission will see reason and do away with this obnoxious fixed charge.
The new tariff in the pipeline should be based on consumed kwh only.
