Re: Maku, Jonathan’s trusted ally seeks higher service

I must confess, the piece did not elate even the most gullible. In fact this is the worst article ever that Alibi has written since I started reading him on the pages of Daily Trust.
Idang Alibi attempt at elevating Maku’s stature to a height he cannot attain.  Mr Labaran Maku needs no further introduction to not only the people of Nasarawa State but to entire Nigerians for the inglorious role he has played in misinforming Nigerians. Maku without any fear of contradiction is a man full of sound and fury, with little or no significance.  Those familiar with his antecedents believe that his rise to prominence was due largely to what he mastered most, which has nothing to do anything of substance.  A good leader is by nature supposed to be detribalized; but Maku ever since he came into political limelight first as commissioner during the first civilian Governor of Nasarawa state Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu up to his appointment as Deputy Governor by same Abdullahi Adamu and even when he served as Minister of Information, Maku showed himself to be an ethnic jingoist. All his worries have been that of how to promote the interest of his kinsmen. It is on record that while he was commissioner for 4 years and later as Deputy Governor for another 4 years, Maku made no impact in the state other than consideration for his kinsmen.
When he acted as Minister of Defence, the Ombatse militia group, founded by his Eggon people to serve as armed wing for actualization of the certain agenda in Nasarawa state, became more daring and emboldened by visiting mayhem on virtually all the other ethnic tribes in the state, basking on the sense of ‘our own is the defence minister’.   As spokesman for the federal government, Maku never spoke out against Ombatse, despite the group’s well-documented mayhem.   The claim by Alibi that Maku ‘is a man with sanguine personality traits’ is farcical. A person with sanguine personality traits can never be an ethnic champion.
However, whether or not his party fields him as their candidate for governor of Nasarawa State, the fact is that Governor Al-Makura has no credible challenger in the PDP.  The 12 years of PDP rule in Nasarawa state failed to provide to the people of the state what the APC provides them with now. The insecurity situation in some part of Nasarawa state, as many now believe, assumed notoriety due to the activities of Ombatse militia group. I’ am still at a loss as to how Maku, or any other person that can emerge as PDP flag bearer in 2015 governorship election in Nasarawa State, would convince the people to vote for the PDP.
