It was yet another sadistic piece by one “Abu Najakku”, a pseudonym, in his column in Daily Trust of Tuesday, August 11, 2015. It has become habitual of Najakku and his desperation to link systemic failure under various governments after the government of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. Despite the fact that the title of the piece has nothing to do with IBB, ‘Najakku’ in his comical style, sought to project in bad light the 74-year-old that served the Nigerian Army and the country.
The desperation of Najakku and his ilk to bring General Babangida to disrepute appeared also on page 65 of Daily Trust on Tuesday 30th December, 2014 under a titled “The road to Aso Rock does not go through Minna”. This time around, “Najakku” is out with his fallacies and a mindset on the peaceful life of the former military president in the history of Nigeria. At an appropriate time, we will unveil, unmask and shame the code name “Abu Najakku” and his sponsors in advertised publications. For now, let Daily Trust Newspapers continue to harbour  this fanatical apologist called ‘Najakku’.
Events in the mid 1980’s particularly from 1985, when IBB assumed leadership of the country,  Nigeria was struggling with threats of economic instability, political upheavals (especially clamour for democracy) and a secession threat.  ‘Najakku’ needs to be more careful in his crusade to pin any of Nigerian problems on IBB. I believe no system or ideology is silt-proof and every government has its own share of challenges and problems which the head of that administration addresses diligently to the best of his ability.
It is a well known fact, that Najakku and his cohorts erroneously used the Nigerian syndrome of ‘Operation Pull Him Down” to rubbish IBB for selfish reasons. While I cannot hold brief for Col. Sambo Dasuki over his actions, deals and inadequacies as the then National Security Adviser particularly with regards to the alleged millions of American dollars meant for the purchase of arms to fight insurgency, it is true as stated by Najakku, that, Col. Sambo Dasuki, was former aide de camp to IBB. But 30 years down the line, Col. Dasuki is more mature to take full responsibilities of various engagements without recourse to the retired General at the “Hiltop Minna”. If “The road to Aso Rock does not go through Minna”, how come now, the alleged fraud of arms purchases by Col. Sambo Dasuki is passing through “Hilltop Minna” from the Aso Rock Villa? 
Let it be known that IBB in one of his interactions with various segments of the society a story teller whispered to him that “ Sambo Dasuki has bought a beautiful house at Asokoro, demolished it and built a one edifice in town”. IBB replied, “Not Sambo Dasuki that I know. May be another person, the one I know will not be that reckless…” In all honesty, General Babangida, does not control mind, emotions and actions of Col. Sambo Dasuki and if he is aware of any wrongdoing,  he would call him to order. For Najakku to link the arms deal and scandals of obsolete weapons to IBB is ill-conceived and in bad taste. IBB is not privy to the fight against insurgency.  While IBB acknowledged the bold step by President Muhammadu Buhari in stamping out corruption and retrieval of stolen money stashed abroad, fighting and ending insurgency and insecurity and indeed promoting good governance and economic prosperity, more than ever, has come for the rebirth of Nigeria and Nigerians.
