First of all, CAN should have directed its queries to the Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces. This is because the governor of Borno State has no authority whatsoever under emergency rule to direct, command or instruct any of the security agents serving in the state. The only person who has such right is the President and Command in Chief.
Northern CAN aims to divide our collective stand on this issue. It should never be allowed to succeed. There has never been a time that Nigerians (Christians and Muslims) have stood to express their concern on a burning issue such as the case of our adducted innocent daughters in Chibok than this. The abduction is bothering and disturbing to majority of Nigerians, regardless of their faiths. Northern CAN should please note that we shall never be divided in our prayers and, with Almighty God on our side, we shall do everything possible to see that our daughters are set free and the abductors brought to book.
If we set aside all sentiments, we would note that the government has failed in its responsibility of securing lives and properties of innocent Nigerians. Otherwise, where are our security forces with their multiple checkpoints when the Boko Haram insurgents move freely with their vehicles and tanks committing atrocities here and there? Why didn’t the Northern CAN fault our leaders who couldn’t even pay a condolence visit to Borno people and the state where lives are lost on daily basis?
I am not sure that the representatives of Northern CAN are speaking the minds of majority of our Christians brothers in the region.
