I appreciate Mahmud Jega’s reminder on yesteryears jingles on television and over the radio. Honestly those days were joyous days to us as children.
They were good old days that those of us who can still remember those jingles would wish to go back to them if it were possible. Though television was not so common then, we enjoyed watching mobile cinema by the PZ Company after the day’s publicity.
You would hear them in the evening times drawing the attention of people in the community saying in Hausa, Majigi! Majigi! which is an alert that there would be cinema show later that evening. I remember those cowboy films that used to be shown intermittently with the adverts of ‘elephant power,’ ‘minta supermint,’ ‘Cussons imperial leather,’ and others. On advertising Robb, a cartoon of a man with long nose applied it to his nose and it instantly returned to the normal size. Indeed they were good days to us. Thanks for taking us back to memory lane.
