The letter was a deliberate attempt to exonerate Col Sambo Dasuki (Rtd), the National Security Adviser from partisan politics, especially as it borders on Sokoto. Governor Aliyu Wamakko has always respected every Sokoto citizen and has striven assiduously to protect their interest wherever they are serving.
He could not have raised any allegation against Sambo Dasuki on flimsy grounds but there are overwhelming pointers that the NSA is collaborating with former governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa to frustrate the good governance in Sokoto state.
The connivance heightened throughout the electioneering campaigns. Sambo Dasuki has been active in inducement of voters and intimidation of APC chieftains. A few weeks ago he was in Sokoto to induce Islamic clerics and also tried to penetrate Sokoto elders apparently to swing opinion to PDP. Two days to election he was in Sokoto to strategize with Bafarawa for Goodluck Jonathan. They distributed dollars as a facilitation to actualize their utopian dream. They followed up with nocturnal visits distributing money and materials, as perceived tools to woo Sokoto voters. They also sanctioned the arrest of some key APC figures.
The nocturnal meeting with some lec-turers involved in the announcement of the elections to falsify figures as alleged by Governor Wamakko was real and incontrovertible. So no matter how hard Moshood Isah tried to cover up we in this environment are aware it took place and Sambo Dasuki spear-headed it.
The NSA lodged some security personnel in Argungu Grand Fishing Hotel from where they arrested APC chieftains in Sokoto to frustrate and curtail their influence on their followers in the elections. However, in spite of the rampaging conduct of the NSA and the ex-governor the emerging results are frustration against them. APC firmly controls Sokoto State. Certainly a heavy blow has been dealt against all tricks employed by former governor Bafarawa, and of course Sambo Dasuki. They will soon become politically irrelevant with the emergence of APC government at the centre and in the state.
We also wish to draw the writer’s attention that he is on dubious path to insinuate that Governor Wamakko “has sworn to drag Sambo Dasuki through the mud of Nigerian politics in what seems like a desperate effort to soil the image of the NSA who has drawn a very thick line between his job and politics, the Sokoto state governor has curiously sustained his mudsling of Dasuki”. This is great fallacy churned out by the uninformed about Sokoto politics. Governor Wamakko has never been known as trouble maker. He remains prince of peace who respects and protects the cherished values of the Caliphate. The writer should be reminded that the governor is not known for frivolous statements.
The writer can now see fighting insurgency is secondary to our NSA. Indeed, it could have been neater if he adorned the garb of electoral contest in Sokoto to test his popularity in the state. We know that he is a paper weight in Sokoto political equation.
The writer is least knowledgeable about Sokoto politics. It is opprobrious to engage in any literary exercise without adequate or verifiable information. Moshood Isah may learn this henceforth.
