I read in detail, your back page on the needless drama in Kano. You captured most of what I wanted to say. Bravo!
Nobody will ever believe that the federal government has foolishly gotten involved in a purely state matter. When did the federal government begin to enforce court order?
All the heads of security and paramilitary forces have at one time or another been pilloried by the courts, which demanded their arrest and production. None of these court orders were ever enforced. Why that of Kano? Let the federal government come and tell Nigerians the reason or reasons for their unholy involvement with who occupies the throne of Kano.
I started assembling materials to write on the totally unnecessary brouhaha in Kano, with the heading, “The Philosopher King who Weathered the Tempest” before realising that the matter is sub-judice.
My personal opinion is that because of his sheer brilliance and erudition, most people feel uncomfortable with Emir Sanusi II.
This explains why he was removed unjustly in the first place. When the trouble began between them before the deposition, I had written a lengthy article in Daily Trust, in which I berated Ganduje for showing lack of understanding of “individual differences” which anybody with a teaching background should have been taught.
All those federal officials should leave Emir Sanusi II alone. They should also understand that all chieftaincy matters fall squarely under the purview of the governor and he has taken his decision, whether pleasant or not.
The hullabaloo is over and Emir Sanusi remains the Emir of Kano. Nigeria, we hail thee!
