The Editorial piece of Daily Trust, dated 30th May, 2019, tittle “US don’t attack Iran” has succinctly highlighted the recent tension between Washington and Tehran. The tension which escalate when the two countries labelled each other’s military forces as terrorists. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Iran has been in existence since 1979, and the organization is in the forefront of fighting terrorism from Afghanistan, Iraq and to Syria, and the United State President Donald Trump has designated the Iranian IRGC as terrorist organization, President Trump utterance was the first time the US has ever labelled a foreign government agency in that way and the most disheartening is the fact that it was on the suggestion of Mr. Netanyahu that Trump put the IRGC on the FTO list. Iran on its part responded by calling the US troops in the Middle East as terrorist group. When looking at the innuendo the US President claims of over 600 Americans troops killed by the IGRC and its affiliate’s militia group is a baseless lie and if they were a thing, we learnt in the invasion of Iraq by the US in defiance of the international law is the birth of ISIS. No one can defend the IRGC in this regard, but they too undermine opponents across the Arab world.
The Editorial piece, has not mentioned of the issues of cabal in all of these conflicts of interest, the conflict of interest has been fuelled because of the US increased alliances with the Tel Aviv, Riyadh and the Emirates. The so-called B-team Bolton, Benjamin Netanyahu, Bin Zayed and Bin Salman, sees Iran crossing the nuclear threshold as a major security threat to them in the Middle Eastern region and this particular cabal are pushing President Trump to a disastrous situation for America to make another move of Iraq invasion of 2003 in Iran which unfortunately they will be the first to suffer the consequences.
The question now arise, will the US attack Iran? Neither Trump nor Rouhani wishes for a war to erupt, despite the huge presence of the US well equipped missile destroyer USS Bainbridge and the Spanish navy frigate in the Iranian coast, a plan for the war is in no near, rather President Trump is playing the ‘economic terrorism’ card on Iran. A sanction in place on who buys Iran oil is rightly on the horizon but the major Iranian oil importers are Turkey, China and India, even though the three countries do not recognize the US sanctions as lawful. The continuation of economic sanctions on Iran, targeting its metal exports, a sector that generated a whopping 10% of the country export revenue, will lead Tehran to come to the table, but if their signal warning of enriching more uranium comes to fruitful then Washington will fail in its quest to call Tehran to order.
Nonetheless, hold on Iran, the sanctions and declaring the IRGC as terrorist organization will not have any negative economic impact, because it is a weakness and defeat on the part of the US government for sanctioning something that was already been sanctioned. The latest development, economically and politically could not in any way change the past narrative, with election on the horizon, hang on Iran, exercise a bit patience until 2020 elections in US, perhaps they might be a change of regime that will take a different view on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action
