The hasty way he is making unfounded remarks about the 2006 census shows that he is not ready to learn from experts he met at the NPC. Odimegwu’s plans for Diaspora census without good understanding of census dynamics shows that President Goodluck Jonathan should rethink his choice of a leader for this important public institution. Odimegwu would have taken time to reach out to the astute census manager, administrator and planner, NPC’s former boss, Mr Makama to learn at least the basics before he sets to work. Census is critical to national development, so the National Assembly should revisit their endorsement of Odimegwu for the position. A detribalised professional demographer, geographer or national planning expert, could make the difference at this point in our match towards the planned 2016 census.
