‘This is a court case not a case for the Chief of Army staff. It must be investigated by the ministry of justice Kaduna state. It’s above the army, it’s a murder case with already a suspect. The father of Hamza should lodge a complain with the Inspector General of Police, the Kaduna State ministry of Justice and human rights groups who will make sure justice is done. But this is quite above Zaria police department, it is a state case and the state should investigate and prosecute.’

‘This story is touching and it left me and other readers resentful of what kind of country we live in. A country where life can be snuffed out and nobody seems to care to hold anybody accountable, especially if the victim is an ordinary Nigerian. If the late Dan’azumi were the son of a top politician or an army general, the federal government would have acted on his death. When I read about his brutal and questionable death I wondered whether the Nigerian media will pursue his case with unrelenting search for justice. Sadly, only the Weekly Trust and People’s Daily appear  interested in his father’s quest for justice. Should the media under any circumstance agree to kill publicity over an apparent case of foul play at the Nigerian Military School Zaria? Can the media pretend to be neutral between justice and injustice? No cover-up can succeed in this murder case if the media demonstrates keen interest in the matter. The media should not give comfort or immunity to anybody suspected to have engaged in foul play. The Chief of Army staff should treat this issue with the urgency it deserves.  The fact that no official statement has been issued by the military authorities on Hamza’s death is troubling.’
