My attention was drawn to Mr. Tunde Asaju’s piece of opinion, published on page 43 of your well-liked newspaper, dated February 21, 2018. In the piece, Mr. Asaju hauled PMB over the coals for being in coma or turning a blind eye to the fear-provoking sufferings bedeviling the country. 

In my opinion, since his inception, PMB left no stone unturned towards fixing the country because he had taken over Nigeria along with cumbersome challenges such as insecurity, corruption, collapse of oil cost, lack of economic diversification policy, depleted foreign reserve, militancy and economic tsunami crippling the country. For me, I look upon the country as an overburdened truck along with exploded tires.

Fortunately, shortly after 2015 general elections, when PMB took over the country, he had embarked on salvaging our 36 desperate state governments from attenuating as their governors owed their workers’ salaries by granting them triple bailouts and Paris refunds. Does he not deserve to be commended for that? 

Besides, those stable wailers have also forgotten how PMB kept at bay that frightening moment in which Nigerians spent sleepless nights fearing brutal invasions of the Boko Haram marauders across the nooks and crannies of the North.  It is fortunate that the people of the North are now indebted to PMB for decimating coldhearted invaders. 

The PMB’s tremendous economic diversification gladdened the hearts of the thoughtful Nigerians because they are well aware of the threat of mono product economy in the country.  Since his assumption of office PMB has tenaciously been making every effort to diversify Nigerian economy from crude oil to agriculture because its significance towards bringing about economic growth and sustainable development every nation can’t be overemphasised. It also plays a central role in providing employment opportunities for the teeming population, export revenue earnings and eradicating poverty threat in the country. It is heartrending that those stable wailers are incapable of reflecting importance of this long-awaited economic diversification.  

Conclusively, we remain optimistic for PMB’s tremendous effort of economic diversification as it the only way of curbing the threat of unemployment in the country.
