In addition to some of the bottlenecks you highlighted in your report, another reason why the scarcity persists is the profits marketers are making right now. It has been about four years they haven’t made this kind of brisk business that comes due to fuel scarcity.

Many of them in Kano have fuel in their various stations since the end of November 2021 but have refused to sell in anticipation of upward price adjustment in January 2022. They are now selling at N225 per litre. Some tanker drivers engaged in transporting the product have also refused to move out of the park at Kano depot.
There is also the issue of lack of monitoring by the regulators. As long as regulators will not perform their duty as required, the poor Nigerians will continue to suffer at the hands of such businessmen.
