 People have continued to react to the call by Katsina state governor Ibrahim Shema to hit members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state like cockroaches.

They are threatening to petition the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Security Service (DSS) over the call.

In a video, which has gone viral, the governor is seen speaking to supporters where he called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyalists to hit opponents like the cockroaches.

 The Katsina state chairman of APC, Mustapha Inuwa said the party would petition the Inspector General of police and the State Security Services to investigate such utterance as they could not fold their arms to be threatened with violence by the governor.

   He said Governor Shema’s statement must not be swept under the carpet as its ferocity and consequences were enormous as the nation moves to the polls in few months.

A renowned Islamic scholar and leader of the Izalatul Bidi’a waikamatul sunnah, Sheikh Yakubu Musa said politicians should be mindful of their statements noting that unguarded utterances could spell doom for the country.

He said such statement should not have come from a leader.

However, the governor’s chief of staff, Salisu Majigiri said the statement could be understood differently based on each person’s understanding.
