How about this theory: The Americans did not drug Umar Faruk but knew that he was a potential terrorist and let him go through with his planned bombing of that airplane. Their reason: to get access to Nigeria and invade it just as they invaded Iraq, for the same reason—oil and their Military command plan.

How else can one explain the negligence and security lapses that Obama called “systemic failure”? Obama himself may not be in the picture, and the Americans have been known to carry out such atrocities to get what they want around the world. How else can one explain the “I-don’t-care” attitude of the Americans after the boy’s father reported his son’s suspicious activities? Remember one-time US ambassador something Lyman’s assertion a few years ago that the Al-qaeda had links with northern Nigeria? Remember that the US wanted to establish a Military Command in Africa, preferably in Nigeria but could not get what they wanted?   

What I am implying is that the Americans used the father’s info and tracked Umar down and kept an eye on him making sure he got on that plane. Unfortunately for them their plan did not work out the way they wanted. They wanted the boy to blow up the plane, then later will claim, from their investigations, that it was Umar Faruk, a Nigerian. After all, his own father reported his activities earlier. That would have given them the access they wanted, but due to a technical fault the bomb did not go off and…

Aisha Umar Yusuf said the father made a mistake by reporting his son to the “wrong people”. She implies that his report paved the way for his son being set up, and helped to add apparent credibility to the official version! In other words, Mutallab snr’s act merely shows that his son is an extremist and provided a perfect candidate to be used for the phantom terrorist act. But who sent him to Yemen, Ghana, Holland? What would he do in America if he was not planning something sinister? Osama compounded matters by referring to Farouk as hero, jihadist, etc.

Nigerians are masters when it comes to responding to indignation, persecution, neglect, condescension, castigation and any kind of humiliation and so forth from anybody.

We know why those things are being hurled at Nigerians. Instead of trying to figure out how to fix our problems in the same kind of concert we complain, we cry like babies pointing helpless fingers at what they do not understand.

But we do understand that it is more dignified to hold hands with a well-dressed person, man or woman, than with a raggedy unkempt person. It is safer with guys who have IT together.

 A friend told me that an American friend of him asked him recently whether it is true that Nigerians have a cadaver as a leader and no one knows what to do about it. What did you say to the joker? I asked him. The friend said he was taken aback and did not quite have an appropriate response immediately, but that he got the message.

Do Arabs flock to the US embassies in their countries wailing on the floor for escape visas? Do Arab monarchs and sheiks and all their other regally turbaned folk have rickety air lines or flying coffins when their countries have no national carrier?

With the Arab oil money, the West delivers for them well kept and equipped hospitals, Universities, Air ports, and all kinds of sate-of-the-art facilities with gleaming marble walls and floors. What do Nigerians get and make as one of the largest oil suppliers to the USA?

In some parts of Nigeria, graduate unemployment is said to be above fifty per cent. Where in the Arab world do you have such stats? Do you not drive on Nigerian roads? Are you happy and proud driving on them? When you have foreign guests in your Nigerian home, how do you feel, especially if you are not so lucky and lights go out… and you think the lights will come back on in the next hour and they never come back for two weeks? But supposing I indeed took you for a decent man and fell for your grace and charm and followed you to your home, only to be kidnapped for ransom or worse, ritual practices.

My friend, leave Obama alone. In fact Obama is trying to save you and prolong your life. I believe that he feels that maybe if I can give these brothers and sisters from the motherland some good family who’p’n, they will wake up and take care of business and do us all proud.

Appreciation for BUK graduates

I came across your articles in Daily Trust few months ago, and after joining the Nigerian Village Square and meeting you there again, I become familiar with your writings.

 I greatly admire your writings, and you are one of the people that have demystified my erroneous belief that northerners are laggards intellectually (I’m embarrassed I ever held such a parochial belief). You, late Dr. Tajudeen Abdul Raheem, Mr Yushau Shuaib and a few other alumni of BUK have really proved beyond doubt that BUK is a great school. To think you guys were products of this university I always dismiss.

I’m also a rookie writer by the name ‘Suraj Oyewale’ (you may google that name) and I look forward to being like you.
