Real Madrid sign Cucurella from Chelsea on 6-year contract

Marc Cucurella has joined Real Madrid from Chelsea for the new 2026/27 season onward.

The Spanish international is Real Madrid’s first summer signing as they aim to end a two-season trophyless run.

The Spanish capital club confirmed Cucurella’s capture in a statement, with the Spanish international defender putting pen to a six years deal. The transfer fee was however not disclosed by the club.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Chelsea FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will be linked to our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032,” the short statement read.

Cucurella, born in the city of Catalan, home to Real Madrid’s arch-rivals Barcelona, reportedly signs for a €60 million, and becomes new coach Jose Mourinho’s first signing as Real Madrid coach.

The 27-year-old spent four seasons with Chelsea and featured in 163 matches, winning the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.

He becomes Real Madrid’s only representative in the Spanish national team currently at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
