Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule, has emphasised his administration’s commitment to deal with any staff of the Teachers’ Service Commission involved in exploiting applicants in the ongoing recruitment of 550 teachers in the state.

The governor, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addra, in Lafia shortly after meeting with the chairman of the Teachers Service Commission, Mr Abdullahi Abu Galadima, explained that the recruitment of the 550 teachers must reflect a fair distribution in order to ensure that every constituency in the state was represented.

Sule said that the meeting became imperative owing to the fact that he got information that some unscrupulous elements were taking undue advantage of applicants through extortion with a promise of offering them employment, warning that the exercise is free in the state.

He, however, said that only competent and qualified persons should be considered for employment in the recruitment exercise, warning that “putting unqualified persons in teaching positions will truncate the future of the children and generations to come.”
