The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has donated medical consumables to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi.
The medical items donated include consumables, medications and dressings to enhance quality health care to patients.
ICRC’s health coordinator, Dr Gabriel Mufuta Kakolongo, who made the donations on behalf of the organisation, said it was a follow up to the two-week seminar on Emergency Trauma Room Course held recently for doctors and nurses in emergency care of the hospital.
Represented by, Tochi Nwogu, the coordinator added that the items were meant to assist the hospital put into practice content and skills impacted on the caregivers during the seminar.
The BSUTH Chief Medical Director, Prof. Terrumun Swende, who received the donations applauded the goodwill of ICRC and promised that the hospital will judiciously put the items into use for the purpose intended.
Earlier, the training organised by the ICRC and the Benue Hospital Management Board for at least 20 health professionals in the state harped on the need to improved the expertise of the personnel in treating trauma patients.
